@through.the.lleaves: 5 litter box tips from a cat’s point of view EXPLAINED ⬇️ 1. Don’t use covered litter boxes. There are a few reasons cats prefer an uncovered litter box. Smell is one of the biggest… they trap in odor which is good for us… but not for them. We actually have a covered litter box in the laundry room & the cats use it WAY less. 2. Do a complete litter change at least once a month. Again, cleanliness is next to godliness when it comes to cats. 😂 3. Don’t use litter containing harsh chemicals or perfumes. Cats have a much stronger sense of smell than humans and are often put off by litters with strong perfumes. 4. Trade out your clay litter for a healthier alternative. Clay litter has been linked to respiratory problems for both cats and humans. Plus it’s obtained through strip mining which is sooo horrible for the environment. We just started using @naturallyfreshcatlitter walnut shell litter and the cats had NO problem making the switch! The walnut shells actually have a pleasant smell & I’m so surprised at how well they eliminate odors on their own! We are feeling very happy about this switch. 😊 5. There should be 1 litter box per cat + an extra! Cats can be territorial, more cats = more poo… so they seem to do much better with this ratio of litter boxes! Does your cat cover their poo… or do they just scrape the sides of the litter boxes like mine? 😂 #NaturallyFreshCatKid #Kittylitter #happycatclub #cattips
