@hannahbower2: What is diastasis recti safe? I’m sure you have heard “Dead bugs are DR safe”, “Do them postpartum to heal your core” as blanket statements. I see it ALL the time even by trainers. And although dead bugs are an amazing core exercise and are absolutely appropriate for some, they definitely are not appropriate exercise for everyone ESP early postpartum or for someone that hasn’t done any deep core reconnection rehab. So what is DR safe? It’s nuanced. There is so much fear around what one can and cannot do with diastasis. It’s not about what you do it’s about *how* you do an exercise along with your ability to manage pressure that makes an exercise DR safe or appropriate for you in your healing journey. Your ability to manage pressure in your core also comes down to many factors & is individual to *your* situation. This is why some exercises are DR safe for some and not others. I program deadlbugs in phase 4 of the functional core for postpartum but I give the tools to know when you’re ready to progress to the deadbug safely & confidently. I hope you found this helpful!
