@scaredatsea: In 2009, a whale named Tilikum killed three people at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. Tilikum was a captive orca who had been involved in two previous deaths. On February 24, 2009, Tilikum grabbed a 20-year-old SeaWorld trainer named Dawn Brancheau by the hair and pulled her underwater. Brancheau was pronounced dead at the scene. The attack was the third fatal incident involving Tilikum. In 1999, he was involved in the death of a 27-vear-old SeaWorld trainer named Keltie Byrne. Byrne was swimming with Tilikum in a pool when he grabbed her and pulled her underwater. Her body was found two days later. In 2000, Tilikum was involved in the death of a 32-year-old man named Daniel Dukes. Dukes was found dead in Tilikum's tank after he had apparently snuck into the park after hours. The attacks on Brancheau, Byrne, and Dukes have raised concerns about the safety of keeping orcas in captivity.
