I was at the swimming pool at @thebelamyhouse in Makati, Manila — swimming and creating content for my project. Soon, two ladies arrived with their children. The kids were full of joy, their faces lighting up as they saw me dive. Curious, eager, asking questions — they wanted to learn too. For a moment, we were just people, sharing joy, sharing life. But then… something shifted. One of the women returned, pulled her child aside, and said words I’ll never forget: “Don’t go again playing around this m*nk*** My heart sank. I felt reduced. Unseen. Deeply hurt. I wasn’t there to disturb anyone. I was working — professionally, respectfully, with purpose. A guest at the hotel, fulfilling a project with integrity. I approached the hotel team calmly, kindly — hoping for acknowledgment, a gentle reminder that words like that can hurt. But nothing was done. No apology. No reassurance. Silence. As if my pain didn’t matter. As if I didn’t matter. I’ve already faced challenges here — including being sc^mm*d out of over 500 sd— but what happened at that pool… cut far deeper. I worked hard to afford this trip. I saved for flights, accommodation, every cost — because as a travel creator, I don’t just share places. I share hope. Joy. Connection across cultures. I’ve been to 21 countries, embraced diverse people, experienced beauty across continents — but this was the most painful moment of my entire career. Still, I choose love. I choose forgiveness. Even if the healing takes time. May love be louder. May kindness be stronger.
