@tahajass: Look how the cows react to surat al baqara(cow) from the quran. A spectacular sight! Subhanallah. #islam #cows #quran #miracle

We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. -Surah Al-Hashr-

When we first started hosting dinner parties 7 years ago we had no idea what we were doing. Our previous hosting experience consisted of craft nights, potlucks, and movie nights, but required nothing near the coordination and decorations a dinner party does. We were invited to join a dinner club with 7 other couples where each couple takes turns hosting one four course dinner party all by themselves during a 12 month period. When it was our turn, we chose an Italian theme (very vague but also felt like it could be easily elevated and I knew how to make bread and lasagna, so we were locked in). I was so stressed all day while pulling everything together that when guests finally arrived I felt like I was having an out of body experience the entire night because my mind was in so many different places. I made a lot of mistakes: • I didn’t make a timeline or communicate to my husband what I needed help with in advance (and when he asked me what needed to be done I wasn’t communicating with kindness or patience) • I didn’t plan the table settings because I didn’t appreciate thrifting yet and thought I’d have to drop $200 we didn’t have to make it look nice (my husband pulled it together and decorated the tables beautifully with what we had) • I planned too complicated of a menu and barely got to sit down with our guests • I overcooked the orzo, which was honestly the most minor of my offenses Even so, with all the stress of my first dinner party behind me, and getting to enjoy other dinner parties throughout the year, we were hooked. We kept hosting because it was a way to see friends consistently throughout the year (how many friends do you actually get to see and spend quality time with 8 times a year?) Hosting was also a way to transport us to places we couldn’t afford to travel and have out of the ordinary experiences with friends without dropping $75 on dinner at a restaurant or $50 on a movie. Our community was built on the foundation of imperfect gatherings, and over time we got better. We figured out what made the biggest impact with the budget we had to work with, and hosted more. And now, I get to share everything I’ve learned and am still learning about hosting with all of you, and I’m so grateful you’re here. Welcome to Host in Your Home. 🫶🏻 Now let’s get ready to party 🥳 xo Becca
