His image was widely circulated in the form of posters and slogans, further solidifying his status as a symbol of the ideal Communist soldier. The campaign to "Learn from Lei Feng" became an important part of Maoist ideology, and Lei Feng was held up as the epitome of the Communist ideal of selflessness.
