Yo creía que el -ing estaba ejerciendo el rol de "verbal noun" entonces "i like swimming" es más bien "me gusta la natación" y ahí ya no es confuso

Gerunds e infinitives pueden ser usados como sujeto (antes del verbo) u objetos (después del verbo) pero nada más infinitives se pueden usar después+
