Loki is making slow but steady progress in recovering from IVDD. Unfortunately he had not been fully emptying his bladder (I dont think he could feel when itnwas empty), so he got a pretty gnarly UTI that we are also treating at the moment. Since starting the new UTI meds, he has been holding his bladder an no longer needs diapers. He has been relocating himself during the night. Scooting and even switching which side he is laying on. He is raising his torso up for us to put the sling under when we need to move him. He has been correcting his back feet from knuckling over more often. Standing for meals is getting easier. He is shifting his weight on his back legs to correct a lean or tilt. Before, he would just topple over if we let him (of course we didnt). He is wanting to spend time sunbathing outside. He is starting to seek out things he enjoyed before he lost use of his back legs. He is trying to use his back legs more often. I see him lifting them to clean himself and he kicks my hands away when I go to put shoes on him. All of these are good signs. Nothing about this recovery is going to be quick, and I do anticipate some setbacks. But the fact that we have some bladder control back is beyond exciting for Jake and I. Doing that much laundry (without a dryer because it's broken rn 🙃) was draining. Thanks for the continued support!
