Regardless of when you transitioned, regardless of having all your other documents aligned with your affirmed gender, you’re now going to be misgendered by your federal identification. This is all about cruelty and preventing trans, non-binary, and intersex people from fully participating in society. It locks us out of travel, impacts our ability to secure jobs and bank accounts, and places at even risk for violence. We have to hold all Democratic politicians feet to the fire to not continue to use us as a wedge. We know they don’t need to abandon us. We know that based on the results of the election earlier this week. Let’s make sure they never forget it. We deserve to have ID that accurately represents us as who we are, not the fiction that they want us to be.
