The body has its own profound way of processing and releasing stress and trauma, often beyond what the mind can fully understand or control. This “shake it off” response is part of our natural, built-in system for self-regulation. When animals experience a stressful event, they instinctively shake afterward to release the tension and reset their nervous system. As humans, we have this same capability, children are very good at this. But as we grow, society and our minds often intervene, labeling these responses as unusual or weird. We learn overtime to disconnect from our bodies, often as a survival mechanism. We try and think our way through how we feel. Our natural response is to then numb, suppress, or disconnect from physical sensations and feelings held within, rather than express and release them. Shaking, trembling, or other spontaneous physical movements can help discharge this stored energy that builds up from stress, anxiety or trauma, without us wasting energy trying to think our way through how we feel. These movements aren’t random occurrences but part of the body’s innate wisdom, a mechanism designed to release tension and restore balance. When we allow our bodies to move in these ways, without judgment or trying to correct it, we’re honoring the body’s intelligence. This process bypasses the mind’s need to analyse or rationalise and instead lets the nervous system reset naturally. Trusting that the body knows what to do is incredibly freeing. It’s an invitation to let go of control and surrender to the body’s processes, often guiding us toward healing in ways our minds might not comprehend. This somatic wisdom reminds us that healing isn’t always logical. It’s about allowing, not forcing, feeling, not fixing. By anchoring your attention to the breath this practice promotes a sense of safety and relaxation, helping to quiet the mind and reduce the overwhelming effects of overthinking. #breathworkfacilitator #breathworkhealing #spinalenergetics #nervoussystemregulation #traumainformed #somaticexperiencing #emotionalhealing #StressRelief #emotionalintelligence #anxietyrelief #nervoussystemhealing #energywork #energyhealing #mindbodysoul
