I saw someone use spray foam once. They trimmed it when it was dry and then finished it like this.

I never prefill, just use mesh fibre tape over the big gaps, then run the paper over it straight away

I do this to!! Might take some extra dry time but really no extra work on the angles. And no droopy tape!!
