The truck community used to be something special a place where people came together out of pure passion, respect, and a shared love for building and customizing vehicles with their own two hands. It wasn’t about who had the most followers, the flashiest wheels, or the most expensive lift kit. It was about long nights in the garage, learning through trial and error, helping each other out with parts, advice, and encouragement. Somewhere along the way, though, that spirit started to fade. What was once a tight-knit culture has slowly been overrun by clout chasing, where it feels like people are building trucks not because they love the craft, but because they want attention, likes, and internet fame. It’s not about the build anymore it’s about who can go viral. Even worse, there’s this toxic trend of making fun of others’ builds. People get judged and ridiculed just because their truck doesn’t fit the so-called “popular” style, or because they’re working with a limited budget. Instead of offering respect for someone’s effort and creativity, too many in the scene are quick to mock or belittle. That’s not what this community was supposed to be about. Add in the gatekeeping people refusing to share knowledge, tips, or even basic information because they want to keep some kind of upper hand and it just feels like we’ve lost the soul of the culture. At its core, the truck scene should be about more than just parts and paint. It should be about passion, respect, and community. It’s supposed to be a place where you can pull up, no matter what you’re driving, and feel welcomed because everyone knows the work it takes to get there. Whether it’s a daily-driven street truck, a show build, or a work-in-progress, every ride has a story and every builder deserves a little respect. We need to bring it back to that feeling of rolling out with friends, swapping ideas, celebrating each other’s builds, and remembering why we fell in love with this in the first place. It’s time to stop chasing clout and start building community again.
