I tried this. Tapping them before cooking cracked the shell on all the eggs. It's fine if you're eating the same day, otherwise don't do it.

Yep. Know why? That will let a tiny little bit of water between the shell and the membrane. Also in a lot of places in europe we use an egg piercer.

I still prefer the method of putting it in a hard plastic or glass cup gently shaking it around. Works every time

Respectfully Dissagree. I tried it and it was no different then poking a shallow hole in the bigger end with a push pin, before cooking. 😏
