July 2, 2024 - the day we found out that Kinsley has bilateral progressive sensorineural hearing loss. July 30, 2024 - the day Kinsley was first aided with her hearing aids. The video posted below is from the day Kinsley first got her hearing aids, almost one year ago. I don’t ever want to forget her reaction from activation and to the sounds that I didn’t even know she was missing out on .. “look mama it makes noise” - the running water, feet stomping, patting her belly, her toys making noise, and so many others.. it really put into perspective at just how much we take take for granted. I am in awe of Kinsley and how resilient she has been with this whole situation. She loves her hearing aids and we are so thankful for that. But unfortunately, Kinsley’s hearing loss is progressive and the hearing aids aren’t giving her the amplification and the clarity that she needs. After much thought, prayer, appointments, and talking with Kinsley - we have made the decision for a unilateral cochlear implant. We have so many emotions going into this, but we are hopeful that this will help Kinsley thrive even more than what the hearing aids are allowing for. Kinsley’s surgery will be this coming Friday, June 20. We ask that you keep Kinsley in your prayers as the cochlear implant won’t be a “quick fix”. It will require a lot of work, and basically require her to relearn how to hear out of the implanted ear. Please also pray for me and Trent, this decision hasn’t been an easy one. As parents we obviously wish circumstances were different, but we know the Lord does not make mistakes and is leading us on the right path. Lastly, please pray for her entire medical team and that the surgery will go smoothly.
