@stash_studio: Here’s my process for how to draw a portrait using charcoal: 1️⃣ Loosely sketch out the guidelines for the face, remembering to keep the construction lines for the hair line, eye brows, eyes, nose, lips, and chin, all parallel to one another. 2️⃣ Begin adding some of the main features but still keeping your lines faint. 3️⃣ Once you’re more confident about the placement of the features, go over the details with darker marks. 4️⃣ Hatch over everything in the shadows. If you squint at the drawing, what is in shadow and what is not should be obviously separated. 5️⃣ Blend and refine edges.
