In the Army, all a 1SG is is the top MSG of the company who enforces the discipline for the CO and XO.

to be fair in the are there is a separation between a Sergeant Major (SGM)and a Command Sergeant Major(CSM). much like the usmc a CSM is in that admin role like a SgtMaj. and the SGM is technical

I believe in the Army when a SFC promotes to MSG and get a slot as a 1SG their MOS will stay within their series/branch so instead of an 88M it’s 88Z

In the Army you do sorts lose your MOS at E8, 11b or a 11c you become a 11x. 12a, 12b, 12c... all become 12x
