For this edible bacteria experiment you will need: Coloured Gelatin powder Sugar Plastic petri dishes Candy First you make a jello and wait for it to cool down, and than pour it into a petri dish and wait for 10 minutes. Add candies to the gelatin once it is hardened to create your bacteria. Kids can make their own germs candy while exploring the shape and texture of actual bacteria in this way. It's a great project to work on even though this goes against the golden rule of lab safety: NEVER EAT ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF THE LAB!
