Biggest mistake was not staying in Sintra for atleast a night!! We just did two nights and it was perfect, relaxing, non-rushed etc!

1. Pena palace has no line after 3pm. Book your tickets from then onwards, it’s totally worth going to. And the well is worth the wait and it didn’t

We went in October - booked nothing and there were no lines anywhere.Peña Palace was wonderful. Weather was gorgeous

I must say you went on an amazing day because Sintra is usually cloudy. In summer it is crazy but I recommend going end of September or spring.

We basically did the same thing you did, but with a car. Would 100% recommend a guided tour next time-driving there is wild if you’re not used to it!

It’s hard to do Sintra the ‘right’ way to be fair to you! It’s overrun with tourism right now. Went in 2017 and it was entirely different than 2022

We booked a jeep tour with Wonder Van to see Sintra I'd def recommend! We did the Regaleira, Coba de Roca, Pena Palace gardens, and a wine tasting 🥰

You need to get a tuk-tuk when you get there, is around 20€ pp. And buy the tickets online. Also no line is that long, not even at Pena

I really wanted to see Monserrate but Quinta was great! We went about an hour and a half before close with no crowds.

Definitely recommend going in early March instead! Still a bit of a queue at Peña but nothing awful and we did the well twice!

It depends, when we went to pena we went around noon time and the line wasn’t long at all…probably because it was lunch time

I just did Pena last week! First thing in the morning there was no line! We got so many amazing pictures with no one else in them!
