TW: Many of our core beliefs are developed through our childhood & teenage years Growing up our brains are trying to interpret and understand what’s going on around us and for many of us growing up in the early 2000s it was: “Every woman in media obsesses over being the smallest possible version of themselves and it’s looked down upon to gain weight or be anything but “thin”…what does that mean for me?” We watched beautiful strong women be called overweight on TV and ridiculed by the public, we watched women do anything to be as thin as possible such as solely eating a block of cheese per day or that being called a size 6 was an insult (Devil Wears Prada), we watched our Disney channel characters as a kid be terrified to be anything but thin and ridiculed if they weren’t, our tumblr feeds full of seeing how much of our bones we can get to reveal, magazines at every grocery store showed us the best and worst beach bodies… The list is never ending and this is your reminder to be kind to your thoughts today. Many of us forget everything we were exposed to from a very young mind, and how that shapes every single belief about ourselves. How it takes consistent work, patience, kindness, and conversations with yourself to rewrite the narrative that you formed from a young age. But you are still writing the story: and your reminder that you are so much more than a number or size..that you dictate your worth. And living a life not dictated 24/7 by your appearance is what you deserve, because you encompass so much more magic than that. #StemDrop001 #FomotionalFinds #selflove #bodyimage #2000sbodyimage
