@screenwritinginla: RIP legend. William Friedkin is a true game changing filmmaker. I jumped on the Friedkin train late. Yes, I saw The Exorcist when I was younger, and yes, it had a profound impact on me. Amazing film. But only recently have I been watching ALL his movies. And they are all amazing. The French Connection in particular blew me away. Especially considering when it came out. The chase scene, the grit, how real it felt because the way he shot it. Which was not at all normal at that time. Handheld with a documentary look. But it was the characters in that movie that got me, the way Friedkin brought them all to life, keeping you truly compelled to NEED to know how everything plays out. And the “gunshot” at the end. Jesus. He was one of the greats who constantly pushed the medium in new directions and kept it as real as can be. A straight shooter who did whatever was necessary to manifest the vision in his mind. Love the guy. ⁉️What’s your favorite William Friedkin movie? #williamfriedkin #directing #thefrenchconnection #theexorcist #70smovies #cinema #filmmaking #imdiefilm #screenwriting #motivation
