Pro cabinet maker here, emphasis on sanding before and between coats. 2 primer coats to hide grain better if painting oak/ash, and the right paint!

Best hack is using new socks to paint with instead of roller. Doesn’t leave streaks and easier to get into crevices especially with doors

i did literally all of this and used the emerald paint but for some reason it isn't durabable!! it drives me crazy because I spent so long on it.
