Operation Lone Star is a joint operation between the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Military Department along the southern border between Texas and Mexico. The operation is intended to counter illegal immigration, the illegal drug trade, and human smuggling. Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to over 394,200 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 31,300 criminal arrests, with more than 29,100 felony charges reported.
