Sam Shaw took the photo of Monroe and her costar Tom Ewell on the set of “The Seven Year Itch.” Monroe and Shaw were longtime collaborators and friends, and it was his idea to use the photo to promote the film, boosting its fame. While audiences loved the scene, it reportedly infuriated Monroe’s husband, baseball player Joe DiMaggio. The couple divorced not long after. #History
