@dulinigamereserve: A truly unique sighting as we left Dulini Moya, to find an Elephant cow that had just given birth, feeding on the afterbirth. The mother consumed the placenta to reclaim valuable minerals and nutrients she had lost during the laborious birthing process. The placenta is a precious source of sustenance, rich in iron, calcium, and other essential minerals, helping the mother replenish her strength after giving birth to a calf weighing close on a 100 kilograms.
