You may have forgotten that Thailand played a key role in giving Hun Manet the opportunity to study at West Point.
In 1995, Hun Manet was nominated by Thailand under the U.S.-approved international cadet quota. The United States Military Academy at West Point accepts a limited number of foreign cadets each year, and countries like Thailand are allowed to nominate candidates. That year, Thailand chose to nominate Hun Manet, even though he was Cambodian.
Therefore, we believe it was a gesture of peace and goodwill sharing our quota with Cambodia to build friendly relations.
Have you ever told your people how you got into West Point?Without Thailand’s nomination, you likely wouldn’t have had that opportunity.
