😂 Look, I invented something that has existed a long time...

Isnt this just a unnecessary version of a bevel gear? 💀

Bro just discovered engineering

They're helical gears and they have a lot of loss due to friction which is why they're not used at high speeds, but may work for your application.

Keep in mind that helical gears bring lots of side load. At 90 degrees it’ll put as much load sideways as it puts rotatonally. Learned that the hard way.

You twisted it 45 degrees, not 90!😁

Uhhhh... 45 degrees you meant?

used in literally 99% of steering racks in cars and trucks since 1930. congrats 👏👏

probably need lots of oil? especially if under load

are the gears making line or point contact, was hard to tell. I want to say it's variable point contact on each of the meshed gears.

Oh it’s just worm gear

that's definitely not a 90° angle

Can you do it at a random angle

Anyone know any real world applications of this where it’s more efficient than the co-planar version?

Why reinvent the wheel ? How does a car’s differential work?

I did this design but my gears do not mesh at 90° for some reason
