I'm pretty sure that baby is pooping from the grunts and the way it's body is moving. its usually tiny little whines/moans/ maybe a small groan, but. ot grunting like that

My newborn also sounds like this. We found out it’s silent reflux and has build up during the night. It usually starts around 4am until they wake

My baby does this and he has pretty bad reflux. Usually the grunting would go from 4-7am or so. He’s 3mo & starting to get better.

We have recently got passed this stage.. it’s so nice 😂 and just to add my LO has reflux and yes he did it but he doesn’t anymore so not sure

Ours did this when sleeping flat in the Moses basket in next to me crib. Pillow under head side of the basket to raise it a little and it stopped
