@outdoorwiseliving: ‘Get high, then get low’ - a must do hidden gem (see tips below) Did you know that while there are over 2125 wineries in Napa and Sonoma County, but there is only one botanical garden? I had the honor of touring with executive site director Jeannie and husband Dan; this gem needs to be on your list! Here’s what you need to know: 🥾 Trail: Sonoma Botanical Gardens, Glen Ellen. Coming soon: a more accessible California trail with native plants 🅿️ Fee: unpaved parking lot is free with bathrooms close by. $12 adult/$10 senior/ 8 (13-17 YO)/ U12 free. Membership available 🦮 Friendly: not yet, but pup pass coming soon. 📅 Best times to visit: Fall - right now the foliage is magical. The spring will also bring some incredible views. Closed on Tuesday’s and otherwise open 9-4 daily. 📏 Difficulty: Trails are unnamed and you can stroll for a 0.5 mile or create your own trail and do 2-2.5 miles. 🏔️ Elevation: About 150 ft. 👧 👦 ♿️ friendly: very kid friendly. Partially stroller friendly depending on what loop you want to do. A great place to let kids lead and explore random offshoots 🦅 Wildlife observed: Birds; although deer, rattlesnake, turkey and hawks are known to roam the area 🎒Gear: Bring hiking poles for some of the offshoots. Camera and binoculars strongly recommended! 🕶️ Shade: Mostly shaded; Some short exposed areas near the water. 🛂 Tips: Start high: Walk to the top of the trail and don’t worry about sightseeing yet. Once you get to the top need the prayer flags, meander down whichever way you want.
