@screenwritinginla: Had to repost this. Just watched The Fabelmans again. Such a great films showing how Spielberg used cinema as a way to not only escape reality… but to make sense of it. The scene where he finally realizes his mom is in love with another man, how he is only able to see it while editing the film. Like his ability to manipulate film allows him to see reality more clearly and control it. The Fabelmans also shows how he felt like such an outsider, which still resonates at the time of this interview. Even though he was making some of the best Hollywood movies of all time, Hollywood still didn’t let him into the cool club. But he kept going. Doing it how he wanted to do it. Staying true to his vision. And now, he’s the kind of Hollywood.
