That morning I was very stressed, very frazzled, running around frantically and still not getting everything done that I was hoping to do to get ready for my first ever German pop-up bakery. This experience reminded me of my cupcake catering time when I was catering cupcakes to help pay my way through college. My perfectionist nature just didn’t allow me to ever take a relaxed approach to it. While I am still recovering from that perfectionism, if I ever were to open a bakery, I will not be the one running it 😆 you heard it here first. I thank @jasonlsadler very much for pushing me along that early morning because otherwise we likely would never have made it to the market 🫣 The market experience filled my soul. Being able to interact 1 on 1 with customers was the best - especially convincing them of trying a pumpkin seed pretzel, my favorite pretzel! But this was also one of the most challenging things I have ever done. I had never used a gas oven before I stepped into that kitchen to bake. I didn’t know that being positioned in the sun would make my pastries melt and dry out. I didn’t know that my German donuts were going to be the number 1 most popular item and sold out within less than an hour. The big BUT is that there is no denying that I learned a lot with this experience!! 😁 thank you for everyone who came out to literally hang out in my corner, maybe chat for a bit, maybe try a pastry or pretzel, maybe pick up a cookbook. You guys are the best and the reason why I made this happen. Thank you to my favorite farmers market @opfarmersmarket for believing in me and letting me find a way to get my books to the market! 😅 and thank you for the biggest angels Tammy and her other half for being there to help us out through the early morning rush and beyond with lattes and breakfast and water and all. You’re the true rockstars!! 🥲💘 Recipes for all these German baked goods are in my new cookbook ‚German Home Kitchen’ 😍 except for the Nussecken - those are on the blog! ❤️ and what do you think? Will this happen again?? 🫣😆
