So I live in a small town and me and my toddler walk in the stroller almost daily lately and we walk past the house that ownes horses and donkeys today there was 2 donkeys outside and 2 horses and one horse you could see in the barn I was pretty far from them, so as im walking by the horse lets out a noise like the first one but then the other horses ran to the barn and the donkeys

What do you call the vocalisation when they call to us? Sometimes my horse uses a higher pitch when he sees me, sometimes a lower.

My old gelding used to greet me daily with an almost squeal with flutters at the end like a whinny. Very soft. Not loud and jarring.
