Get something where you like how it looks. Look good, feel good, play good. 2. Look for comfortability & good knee pads, because you're going to spend a lot of time on your knees doing different drills or blocking. And these Rawlings shins are pretty comfortable. 3. Check if the shin guards roll when you try to slide side to side. These had a little bit of a roll, but the dirt also isn't the best. *Pro tip: If your shins are rolling on you, you may just have to tighten your straps. And make sure that you slide not on your knees, but that on this actual shin of your shin guard. 4. Choose a face mask that’s comfortable and safe. I always caught with a 2-piece, but you aren’t allowed to for safety reasons at younger levels. This helmet is pretty light, the padding is comfortable, and I have good vision.
