First, if this has happened to you, I’m sending you a hug and letting you know that I know it hurts, and I know that you are so much more than someone else’s attraction level. Here are a few things I want you to know: 1. It is normal for attraction to ebb and flow. If your partner shared this as kindly as possible, be open to having a conversation about it. (See my Part 1 reel on attraction for a list of questions to ask.) 2. There are some things that just aren’t okay: - Telling your partner you won’t have sex with them because they’re not attractive - Telling your partner that you think various other people are more attractive than them - Telling your partner that you will withhold sex or affection until they change something you don’t like about their appearance. - Anything else that is mean-spirited and manipulative. If your partner is doing any of these things and you feel safe enough to have a conversation about it, let them know that their actions are deeply hurtful and set boundaries on what you will or will not tolerate. If they do not respect these boundaries, do some soul searching and consider whether this is the right relationship for you. 3. Your relationship can overcome this if you both want it to. Here are some things that can cause loss of attraction that CAN be overcome: hormone imbalance, depression, stress, lack of connection, affairs, low self-esteem, major life changes, parenthood, being together a long time, and more.
