You should get some of the high heat resistant tesa tape off Amazon. I think it’s like $20 for 5 rolls. Will resist abrasion and prevent more breaks

I work on John Deere Ag equipment and we never solder due to it most likely to break because it becomes brittle so but connector for the win.

I was taught to heat the bottom of the wire and the solder flows down through. all the same done 100 different ways but.
