@msnbc: On Thursday, a Texas judge granted the request from a pregnant mother of two to terminate her third pregnancy. Kate Cox learned her fetus has a genetic condition that can cause stillbirth or death of a newborn. Because Cox’s other children were delivered by cesarean section, her doctors say carrying this pregnancy to term creates a risk of serious medical issues. Texas law prohibits nearly all abortion, allowing limited exceptions when there’s a risk of “substantial” harm, but the language of the law does not make clear what that means. Cox says forcing her to continue with her current pregnancy is “cruel.” Shortly after Thursday’s court order, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened legal action if Cox’s abortion takes place.
