THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE GOING TO CAPE VERDE🏝️⬇️ 1~ You need to take a higher factor suncream than you usually would. I knew we wouldn’t feel the sun as much because it’s a small island so it can be quite windy but WOW you don’t expect to burn as much as you will. I’d say about 85% of the people at our resort were red and sore simply because the wind is very misleading so don’t forget to keep reapplying suncream even if you can’t feel the heat!!🔥 2~ If you decide to leave the hotel to explore the shops and restaurants make sure you turn your wristband inside out!! I wish we knew this before because it’s quite common for people to see what hotel you’re from and tell you a lie that they work there (as a gardener or something) and saw you the other day. That then starts the process of them asking for money and making you go to their shop. After a bad experience where we were blocked in a shop and forced to buy something someone at our hotel told us that the police out there are very strict on not being able to harass tourists so just say you will call the police if this happens (I can’t verify how true that is though)💰 3~ You can get better deals on day trips through the locals (there were always locals at our hotel beach to book through). We did a day trip that included lemon sharks swimming around your feet, swimming in the salt lake and experiencing the local atmosphere driving through villages and stopping off for lunch🦈🍹 Save and follow for more tips❤️ #capeverde #salcapeverde #travelhacks #traveltok #traveltips #thingstodoincapeverde #riuhotels #riucaboverde
