The month of pain begins Friday. Three of the world's hardest 100-mile races in 5 weeks:Crazy Mountain 100 (This Friday) - Montana's newest Hardrock qualifier. 20,000+ feet of climbing through remote wilderness where grizzly bears have been reported this year. Exposed ridges, technical terrain, and weather that can go from scorching to freezing in hours. The kind of race where finishing is an accomplishment, not an expectation.Leadville 100 (3 weeks later) - The Race Across the Sky. 15,600 feet of elevation gain starting at 10,200 feet above sea level. Twin Lakes out and back through Colorado's most unforgiving terrain. Thin air that makes every step feel like drowning. Hope Pass twice. The cutoffs are brutal and the course doesn't care about your feelings. UTMB (2 weeks after Leadville) - The granddaddy of them all. 106 miles around Mont Blanc through France, Italy, and Switzerland. 32,800 feet of climbing that will destroy your quads and test your soul. Starting with 2,000+ of the world's best ultrarunners in Chamonix, knowing only 70% will see the finish line. This isn't racing, it's calculated self-destruction. Each race would be the hardest thing most people do in a year. I'm doing all three in 5 weeks because apparently I hate myself and love suffering in equal measure. My legs are going to forget what recovery feels like. My mind is going to places it's never been. But this is what we train for - to see what we're really made of when everything falls apart.Time to find out if I'm tough enough or just stupid enough. Probably both. Smile, or you're doing it wrong #runtok #leadville #crazymountain100 #utmb
