our beagle barks at our 17yr coming home at night if he forgets to take his hat off. he has to say his name before he stops. we have started leaving the hallway light on so he can see him.

My house was broken into when I was pregnant and alone at night. Decided to get a dog, boxer hound mix. She’s perfect, amazing with the kids but extremely protective. One night my partner forgot his keys and went to every window of the house trying to get in. My Molly walked quietly, hackles raised, low growling, following. He eventually got in through the garage (I opened it because I saw his car on the camera) - she stayed in front of me sitting, low growl, hackles raised until he came in SLOWLY so she could scent and see him and did not touch her for a bit until she fully calmed. She was clearly ready to defend the kids and I with her life if it came to it. She’s our spoiled princess. I’ll be thankful until the day I die that my daughter chose her over the puppy we went to the shelter to get. Especially having since learned they’d planned on euthanizing her if she didn’t get adopted. We were meant for her the way she was meant for us.

My corso knows the sound of my car. She almost never barks unless I’m with someone she goes off lol but she so sweet once she meets them.
