@shilohfarm: 5 tips to help your chickens this winter ❄️🐔 @purelychickens #1 Keep the Food & Water coming. Your birds need lots of fresh water to stay hydrated and food to maintain body heat. #2 Give them space that’s out of the wind and dry. They are more resilient than you might think, but a good shelter is really important. #3 Avoid using supplemental heat if at all possible. Chickens adjust to the cold really well, but if you never allow them to acclimate to the weather and the heat lamps go out, they’ll be in trouble. #4 Bedding needs to be dry and clean. As they spend more time in the coop it’s important to use a bedding that isn’t dusty to avoid respiratory issues. We highly recommend @Eaton Pet & Pasture bedding for this reason and more! #5 Provide a flat place to roost so your chickens can better cover their feet and avoid frostbite Follow us for more chicken tips! 🐔👍 #chicken #chickens #poultry #hens #layinghens #winter #cold #tip #tips #animalcare #bird #birds #homestead #homesteading #tip #tips #backyardchickens #backyardpoultry #helpful #shilohfarm #purelychickens
