Fun fact: Day passes cost between $65-110 in every country I looked at, from Switzerland to Japan. And I only looked at high end ski resorts.

Exactly, every time I think about breaking out my skis, I think about the price of driving for two hours, and then hundreds for a lift ticket

Native Coloradan here: ski tickets used to cost $50-$75 in the 90s/early 2000s. It costs $300-$400+ for a ski day now. Which is outrageous.

Almost like we should be making the sport more accessible so everyone can enjoy it instead of less

Best to start at smaller, cheaper, more beginner friendly mountains. Barrier to entry cost deterred me the last 3 years, but I finally did a ski lesson at Eldora & have been slowly paying for gear.

Spot on. With traffic in the west (Colorado) so predictably bad they already have an outlier they can’t control as barrier, in addition to costs.

For those that don’t know, you can also buy 2 or 5 day passes in advance to save a little money too. Or if a friend has a pass with guest passes on it

the cross are educated and self-interested. their goal is to get rich before climate change shortly kills the industry altogether, they font care about creating new skiers

Honeslty they need to let kids ski free with adults. I wouldn’t have been an avid skier today had my family not got me into it as a kid.

Aspen isn’t on ikon pass. They have a seperate pass and if you upgrade on ikon you only get 5 days there.

Epic local is approximately $699 or so. Ski 4 days it’s paid for itself. I ski far more than that. I agree though that the cost for a day ticket is likely killing the sport for new skiers

The Ikon pass isn’t even a true Aspen pass - you only get so many days. A real aspen pass is like $3,000 or something ridiculous and only for Aspen

I feel like people don’t do it long term because you’re inevitably going to get injured and med costs, especially in CO, are ridiculous.
