@middleeasteye: British Labour MP Zarah Sultana demanded an apology from Conservative MP Andrew Percy on Monday over the use of a “racist trope”. Sultana had asked whether British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak would try to de-escalate the situation in Gaza and the Red Sea and call for an immediate ceasefire, to which Sunak responded by telling her to “call on Hamas and the Houthis to de-escalate”. After Sunak’s response, Percy said that “too many people give a free pass to the terrorists who perpetrated the worst murder of Jews” and that they had “just seen an example of that”.
