You can get away with a pic of your ID for some things in the US. Some states actually have a secure digital version you can put in your Apple wallet

Canada just started doing this. It isn’t for all medications but pharmacists can prescribe/re-new prescriptions now. it does make things easier.

True story! I got pneumonia while traveling in Paris. Had my US doctor transfer prescription to a pharmacy on champs and not only did they fill it, they had ME come behind counter and log into get it!

it works with long-term medications. pharmacists are allowed to give you one more box of the treatment after the end of the prescription to avoid having to pause a treatment
