Is the reason for refrigeration just to save on time and flour? I never put mine in the refrigerator. I feed every day but bake once a week.

So if I feed it that morning, bake do I have to feed it before I put it back into the refrigerator? Next time I bake I will discard that and feed it again. I feel like it is waste of flour.
