@la_santanamaria: Here’s what I wore to my interview at Ulta and was offered the job on the spot 🥰💅🏼 (Prestige Beauty Advisor) 💋Helpful tips to land a job at Ulta or Sephora (I worked at Sephora before ulta so I had an advantage with experience) 1. If you’re applying to any job in the beauty industry, aim to wear all black! This is a sign of professionalism! 2. Do your makeup! Show them you know the basics of how to apply makeup. I would pick one feature to make pop. For instance, you can do a soft glam with a brown Smokey eye and lashes. Then your eyes will be the spotlight. Or a soft glam with a neutral eye but with a pop of color for lipstick. Orrr my personal favorite, highlight! Make those high points SPARKLE, blind them girl, blind them ✨ 3. Make sure your hair is nice! Whatever hair texture you have, style it! Make it look nice and well taken cared of. 4. Wear a fragrance that Ulta (or Sephora) sells! They always want you to promote products by displaying them on yourself. Sometimes your perfume can catch somebody’s attention before you can! 5. Have your nails done. If they’re not painted, strive to have them manicured! We don’t want dirty, crusty hands putting makeup on our faces. 6. Emphasize on being a team player! They want to know can you work with a group of mainly females without bringing additional drama. Let them know you can work well in a team dynamic as well as independent work. 7. Have open availability. There are so many shifts I didn’t know existed until I asked my manager about hours. 8. Throw in fun facts about skin care routines. Your skin care is the base that sets the tone for your makeup. Do research on simple skin care routines that you can suggest to either oily skin types or dry skin types. 9. Exude confidence! Don’t be shy or timid. After you’ve done your hair, makeup, your nails look nice, you smell amazing…. ACT like it! Show up and show out!
