As a Californian I tell people all the time to get renters insurance. It’s like $5 a month. We’re supposed to get t to rent but few places verify you have it.

Right! In Texas renters are required to have renters insurance regardless to the area that the property is in.

The apartment complex im at doesnt require but heavyly recommends it. First time ive seen a place not require.

I've rented in VA, MT, and WA. No landlord required renters insurance. Is it a a good idea to have it? Yes. But you can't assume a person has it.

CA. I have helped my daughter rent 2 different places in the last 5 years. Rental insurance was required. It’s like $20 a month.

I live in Missouri and it wasn’t required but they offered to sell us some through the renter. I ended up getting some a year later at state farm
