@punterspolitics: Aussies are getting SCAMMED! by foreign owned mining companies for 40+ years. And Aussies have just let it happen. Is it stupidity? Or is the warm weather and world class beaches keeping us so relaxed we just don't care? The gas, coal, iron ore, and every other mineral in the ground belongs to you, me and everyone with an Aussie passport. Yet we not only give it away close to free, we pay mining companies to take our wealth back to India, the UK and the USA. We export MORE gas than Qatar, and they get 20x the tax revenue from it. Qatar made 76 billion in 2022, we made 2.7... but once you take out the 11 billion on subsidies paid to the fossil industry we are down about 9 billion and left with nothing but dirty holes in the ground. Meanwhile, Norway citizens sit on the largest sovereign wealth find in the world, enough for about 200k per citizen from their oil alone. We have more mineral wealth than almost every other country in the world, yet we can't afford houses, dental, childcare, free education.
