fingerprints arent unique. its like a 1 in 100 million or sumthing like that so statisticians declared fingerprints as unique but science showed that they arent unique (sry for bad english)

I wash my hands pre post every single patient and for personal hygiene and just when I need to. My finger prints are srsly degraded. I worked for the government for awhile and they use fingerprints

fingerprints are good for *confirming* identity, but are not unique enough to be searched against a database. if a suspect and the evidence have the same fingerprints, that's pretty solid.
