I also love wine but on principle don't buy it in restaurants. The absolute killer for me was seeing a wine I buy in Tesco for £11 available for £39.

I used to work for a very large wine supplier . It’s the exact same liquid in a supermarket bottle as the one at a restaurant .one is £6 the other £25

Try running a restaurant. If they didn’t sell wine with a big markup they would go out of business because the margins on food are almost non existent

You can buy a case of corona for £1/bt in supermarkets yet happy to pay £5-6 in a bar. You don’t go out for cheap drinks it’s to socialise and treating yourself. Wine margin is about 75%
