Can garlic prevent the common cold?👇 Garlic is popularly believed to be useful for the common cold as garlic is thought to have antibacterial and antiviral properties. One study found that people who took garlic every day for three months (instead of a placebo) had fewer colds. In the group of people that consumed garlic daily, there were 24 occurs of the common cold compared to 65 in the placebo group. When participants experienced a cold, the length of illness was similar in both groups. At this time, there is insufficient evidence to recommend garlic for in preventing or treating the common cold. A single trial suggested that garlic may prevent occurrences of the common cold but more studies are needed to validate this finding. My mom, along with a few other relatives consumes garlic as they notice benefit. There is unlikely harm to consuming garlic (other than bad breath) so if personally find benefit, go for it! 🧄 What do you think about garlic for the common cold?
