@ratsniffers: Not all rats will tolerate this so don't feel bad if it doesn't work right away. Some rats will never like to being held on their back or even held in general so please don't force it. Generally, old rats are more willing to sit still to receive the attention than their younger counterparts. Unless you have very chill rats, you will need to train them to be at ease on their backs. Begin by slowly introducing them to being held on their back by holding them upright (belly facing you and the rats body parallel to yours). If they start to squirm, let them flip back over and try again later. As your rats become comfortable with the upright position, gradually begin to tip them on their back a little more each day from the upright position. With time (it takes a lot of patience) your rats should become comfortable with being held and massaged on their back. *Helpful tips* 1. Give your rats positive reinforcement by lavishing them with pets throughout the process. 2. Distract them from this new scary position by giving them a treats to hold and eat while you support them. Let me know in the comments if one of your rats likes to do this too or if you can offer some additional advice! #cuterats #rattraining #smallpetcare #rattok #fancyrat #smallanimalsoftiktok
